How to adjust skate trucks?
Ethan Hayes
There are many ways of adjusting the skate trucks. However, you have to choose the one that works for you and your trucks. There is no magic rule that would suit every skater. The purpose of this article is to show you some options and let you decide which one works best for you because there’s really no better way of doing it!
Silky Terrier Dog Breed Playing Aro... Silky Terrier Dog Breed Playing Around- Put a sheet of paper under your back foot. If the wheel touches the paper but doesn’t drag it, you’re good to go.
- Get some slits in the middle of a sheet of paper and put it under your back foot. If the wheel passes between the slits comfortably but touches the paper, your trucks are adjusted well!
- You should be able to hold the truck by its baseplate with one hand, and the wheels should touch your fingers.
- The trucks’ angle will be adjusted by turning them on their baseplates to line up with the axle that goes into the bearings. You don’t have to worry about how this actually works, because you won’t be able to feel it happen when you do it!
- If your skateboard is not properly aligned, you can adjust the truck’s angle by unscrewing one of its bolts and rotating it around while looking at where the axle falls in relation to your feet. Do this only if you are experienced enough though! This adjustment has a large influence on how quickly or slowly your board turns. It usually happens accidentally, but many people prefer doing it intentionally instead of adjusting their foot positioning on the board.
- To adjust your trucks’ hanger (the part that the wheels are attached to), turn each of its bolts clockwise or counterclockwise, looking at how it moves relative to the board beneath it. Like with the tightening of the kingpin nut, this adjustment changes how quickly and sharply you can turn!
- This is also an adjustment many people prefer doing by feeling rather than by actually measuring what’s happening. – Just like with any other skateboard equipment, your trucks need some breaking in before they start working well. After having done this for a couple of hours, everything should settle down and you’ll be able to make all these adjustments more easily!
