How To Attract Garter Snakes?

How do I attract garter snakes to my yard?
Snakes prefer dark, cool places to hide from predators. One of the simplest ways to do this is to maintain a slightly “messy” garden. Snails can hide in brush piles and fallen trees as well as rocks and loosely stacked rocks. Taller vegetation, such as grasses, can also serve as a hideout.
What is the easiest way to find a garter snake?
Garter snakes can be found in fields, tall grass, under leaves, and logs, so keep an eye out. They prefer to stay close to the ground and blend in with the surrounding vegetation. Garter snakes can also be found hibernating in your basement or attic during the winter months.
What can attract snakes?
Hard surfaces like gravel and sand make it difficult for snakes to hide and move around. Remove all food and water sources for wildlife, including bird feeders and birdbaths. Snakes and their prey – mice, rats, and insects – are drawn to food and water sources.
Where can I find a garter snake den?
Tall grass, marshland, and forested areas are among the preferred habitats of garter snakes. Snakes may seek refuge in tree hollows, logs, leaf litter, holes in the ground, rock outcroppings, and/or abandoned burrows in these types of environments.
