First, you might need to buy new roller skate wheels. You can buy them online or at a local shop near you.

I prefer buying my skates, bearings, and wheels online because most of the time I can save money doing so. Most shops have their own brand for roller skate wheels, but it is usually more expensive than other brands, so buying online is better.

The second thing is to think about the size of your wheels, and how it would be when you are skating. If you have big feet, there is no need to buy small-sized roller skate wheels because they will not fit inside of your boots. So make sure whatever size you get will be perfect for what kind of roller skates that you have purchased.

Now after getting all of the things needed, let’s start with breaking in new roller skate wheels.

I usually do my break-in outside on concrete or any other type of surface that does not get ruined easily by materials stuck onto it after being used which can affect our axels. After breaking those in outside I usually do some drills inside with some crossovers, hard stops and cutting left and right trying to see if my wheels are good to skate on. After that, I take them outside again for more skating, cutting left and right, etc.

I usually let the bearings get in after about 20 min of skating the new wheels because they will need some time to adjust to your axels properly. If you don’t let them do so, it can be very bad for your bearings so please make sure not to rush things too much when breaking in roller skate wheels!
