How To Change Batteries In A Dorcy Flashlight
Rachel Davis
A LED flashlight from the Dorcy brand eliminates the drawbacks of traditional incandescent bulbs. The light produced is much brighter when compared to a standard flashlight.
1. Dorcy-brand flashlights must be prepared by adding the batteries required so that the lighting mechanism can deliver power to the LED (or light-emitting diode) inside of the flashlight before you can use it.
2. Loosen the rear battery cover from the Dorcy flashlight and remove it. The flashlight’s end cap has been opened; remove the rubber gasket that was placed over it. You can ignore this step if there isn’t a gasket.
3. Insert the correct batteries into the flashlight’s battery compartment, following the directions in the user’s handbook that came with the flashlight. Put the battery in the battery area and follow the directions on the battery connections.
4. Replace the rubber gasket on the flashlight’s tip if it was damaged or missing. By screwing down the flashlight’s back battery cap, you can restore power to the flashlight.
5. Some flashlights include a knurled ring right behind the reflector where you can turn the LED beam on and off by turning it clockwise. Others have a button on the back or side of the flashlight where you can push to activate the LED beam.
6. Point the light beam at the object you want to illuminate with the light. Notice how the beam is brightest in the middle of the flashlight as opposed to a typical incandescent bulb flashlight. Turn the knob counterclockwise or hit the button the last time to switch off the flashlight.
