How To Change Batteries In Brinkmann Flashlight

Writer Gabriel Cooper

Before this was discontinued, the Brinkmann Dual Xenon lamp was a standard in the automobile detailing business for many years. Many still use these lamps for inspection purposes, but if you’re like me and use them regularly, your battery may be ready for replacement.

To begin, remove the rubber cover out from underneath the lamp and set it aside. This component is simply pushed into place and maybe readily withdrawn by grasping the lamp with both hands and using the thumbs and push this rubber piece off with your other thumbs and fingers.

To complete this step, gently pry this same plastic cover, lenses, and reflectors away from the front of the device. These are a loose fit and thus will fall out under their own if somehow the light is directed downward, so be sure to maintain the unit on a flat surface to minimize the danger of losing these parts accidentally.

Using a Philips head screwdriver, remove the five screws placed on the north side of the lamp. Using your fingers, stretch apart the bottom ends of the belt clip until a side becomes free, then pull the unit away from the belt clip and out of the way.

Take out the top panel of the light fixture after that. This component is attached to the sides of the lamp using four plastic clips, two on every side of something like the light fixture.

Disengage the clip visible across the front of the light with your flat head screwdriver while simultaneously pushing the top panel away from the light on your other hand will remove that panel through one side of the light.

You should be able to fully remove that side panel at this point. Place the unit on a level surface and gently pull the cover on the right side of the unit up. The procedure may be dangerous since there are many parts (such as switches and springs) that might fall out or be shifted. Take care not to drop or move any of these parts. Such or more pieces may probably be repositioned; thus, use this picture as a reference to reposition the pieces on their correct positions.

Change the battery from the device by disconnecting the battery’s leads from the battery. Remove the key to a nearby battery shop to locate a replacement for the one that has failed.

Inspect and replace the battery, then reassemble the device. Before completely reassembling the device, it is a good idea to test it to make sure it is fully functioning.
