If your alarm is emitting a low-battery “chirp” about once per 30 to 60 seconds, it’s time to change your battery. Alarms that have batteries that are removable (non-sealed) batteries will require fresh batteries approximately once a year.

When to Replace Batteries:

The distinctive, but somewhat irritating chirp out of your CO alarm is a sign that it’s time to replace the batteries. First Alert CO alarms chirp every 30-60 seconds when the batteries are low.

Even if the batteries of your alarm aren’t drained It’s recommended to replace them every year. Replace all alarm batteries powered by batteries every day for instance, when the clock changes in spring to help you remember the last time you changed the batteries. For example, CO alarms that are rectangular in the First Alert’s 400 and 605 series come with an internal battery compartment that is located in the back of the unit. In addition, plug-in models that have batteries backup, like CO615, CO615, First Alert have an accessible battery compartment on their front. First Alert’s CO and smoke alarms, like the SCO7 model, have an adjustable battery compartment that extends from the sides of the detector, which makes it simple to change batteries without dismantling the detector.
