How To Change Dodge Key Fob Battery
Rachel Davis
Release the Metal Key
The very first step to replace the old battery that is in your Dodge key fob is to release the metal key. When you turn the key fob over, you will be able to see a small tap that is on the back. This is the area that you will need to press. When you do this, you will be able to get the metal key out of its compartment.
Remove Dodge Key Fob Back Cover
Now that you have removed the metal key, the next thing for you to do is to remove the back cover of the Dodge key fob. As you work on the back cover, try to be as gentle as possible because if you apply too much pressure, you might end up damaging it.
Slide-Out the Old Battery
Once the back cover is out of the way, you’ll be able to see the battery for the fob key. Try to remember the exact position of the battery when taking it out.
Insert the New Battery
Now that you’ve removed the old battery, you can go right ahead and install the new battery. Make sure that the new battery is placed properly in the same way that the old battery was.
Put Back The Back Cover
The back cover should next to you. Next, you’ll need to reattach the cover in its original position. Also, be sure to press the two halves together so that it is attached securely.
Test Out The Key Fob
Now that you have successfully put the new battery in position, you can then test it out on your Dodge. You should immediately see a change in sensitivity in the sense that you don’t have to be close to the car to lock or unlock it when you press the button. Once you are able to clearly see that the lights blink and the door lock makes a sound when locked, then that is all the proof that you need to know that your key fob battery replacement was a success!
Key Fob For Older Dodge Models
If you happen to do have an older Dodge model, then it’s likely that you will have a different key fob. However, those Dodge remotes don’t have a metallic key, so you don’t have to be concerned with that. All you would need is a flathead screwdriver to open the key fob. Once opened, you will see two batteries. Take out the old batteries and replace them with the new ones. That’s all you would need to do.
Dodge Key Fob Isn’t Responding After Replacing The Battery
If you replaced the battery and your Dodge key fob still isn’t working, then it’s likely that you insert the battery incorrectly; it should face the + or positive side. If not, it won’t work.
