Maintaining your 2019 or newer Jeep Wrangler JL’s 3.6L Pentastar V6’s performance and life is easy with regular oil changes. When working under your Jeep, it’s a good idea to use wheel chocks for added security.

1. Remove the drain bolt from the oil pan’s bottom with a 13mm socket.

2. Drain the oil into a pan and set it aside. To wipe up any spills or drips, keep a few shop towels on hand. While doing the next steps, leave the drain bolt out to ensure that all of the oil has been drained.

3 . Remove the oil filter cap by using a 24mm socket and extension under the hood. To catch any oil that spills from the filter, keep some shop towels on hand.

4. Remove the engine’s oil filler cap. The oil filter is secured within the cap with a rubber band. If any oil drips from the filter, be sure to have some shop towels on hand to catch it.

5. Simply remove the old oil filter out of the cap to release it from the oil filter housing.

6. Utilize a pick or a small flathead screwdriver to detach the previous O-ring from the filter cap.

7. Lubricate the new O-ring with a drop of spent filter oil.

8. Put the new filter by snapping it into the oil filter cap.

9. Remove and reinstall the air filter and engine cap.

10. Tighten the oil filter cap to 18 ft-lbs with a 24mm socket. In the absence of a torque wrench, simply tighten the cap. Avoid putting the cap on too tightly.

11. After this point, the engine should be completely drained of all oil. Reinstall the drain bolt with a 13mm socket after crawling back under your Jeep. Tighten to a tensile strength of 20 pounds.

12. Remove the oil filler cap by going back under the hood and working your way up.

13. Fill the engine with 5 quarts of 0W-20 oil using the funnel you just inserted. Reinstall the oil filler cap thereafter, and don’t forget to do so.
