How do you know when it is time for you to change your key FOB’s batteries? You can know this by looking for a message that will be indicated on the instrument cluster of your vehicle. 1. Release the key blade. For certain models, you will need to manually take the blade out. Some models will have a button to release it.
2. Use a flat screwdriver to open up the key FOB. This can easily be done by inserting the end of the screwdriver directly into the side of the key, which is where the key blade usually rests. You should be careful when you are removing the cover, which allows you to access the battery. In certain models where you have to take the blade out, you’ll need to use a small coin and insert it right into the gap where the key was located. Twisting it will then cause the cover to come off. 
3. Use the screwdriver to remove the battery. The key fob battery can actually be tricky to remove because of the fact that it is flat and also smooth. If you use the screwdriver as a pry bar, then you’ll be able to get it out, which should work regardless of the Ford Key Fob model.
