How To Force Feed A Snake?
Robert King
The first thing to remember is that you must proceed cautiously and rapidly. Because your snake will despise being forced to eat and will become stressed.

Solid food can be used to force feed small snakes. They are more manageable than medium or large snakes, and you can aid them in swallowing to avoid spitting out.
Force feeding your snake: how to do it?
The following are the steps involved in force-feeding food to the snakes;
Select the appropriate rat
When force feeding, use a frozen rat that is somewhat smaller than normal. The smaller the rat, the more streamlined the feeding process will be.

To begin, thaw the rat. Place the rat in a zip-lock bag and set it aside. Now soak it in warm water. Allow the rat to become soft and warm. If water leaks in and the rat gets wet, pat it down with the help of tissue paper.
Feed by opening snake’s mouth
Using a tweezer, the second person should pick up the food and place it in the snake’s mouth. While feeding, keep the glottis clear. It is used by snakes to breathe when they are consuming food.
If the snake does not take the food readily, push it down. Squeeze the food gently with the tweezer to facilitate the process. Push the food into the snake’s neck 1 inch deep.
Gently massage the food into the stomach
Allow the snake to consume the food. If it doesn’t, you can try massaging the meal down. By bringing the jaws together, it closes its mouth. Take care not to obstruct the nostrils.
Invert the snake to reveal the underbelly. Pull the skin forward with your thumb directly in front of the bulge created by the meal. To aid digestion, push the meal to the back of the throat. Repeat this procedure until the meal is completely absorbed by the snake’s body.
Pay close attention to the snake
There is still a possibility that your snake will spit out the food. So, keep an eye on the snake for a few hours.
When should your pet snake be fed?
Certain snakes just do not consume enough food. For instance, ball pythons can go six months without feeding. Additionally, the climate might have a significant impact on your snake’s eating patterns. Typically, their metabolism slows down throughout the winter. This may result in a decrease in appetite, which is entirely natural. If your snake goes on a prolonged hunger strike and loses more than 10% of its body weight, the first thing you should do is consult a veterinarian.
Numerous disorders can impair your snake’s ability to eat correctly. For instance, bacterial infections, and metabolic illnesses are only a few examples.
Your vet will examine your snake for any potential health problems and provide you with the necessary information. If your vet determines that force-feeding your snake is necessary, you should do so.
