When it comes to getting the bolts off of a torque converter, there are a few basic steps that need to be taken with care and precision. These steps include:

Step 5: Remove the Stud and Crank Beam Bolt from Engine Block
Now you can remove the old gasket from the torque converter and replace it with a new one. Make sure you use an adhesive that will hold up against hot exhaust gases, like PTFE or Teflon tape.
If you are trying to remove a bolt from a torqued converter, the trick is to heat it up. It will expand enough to be able to tap it off. Use the plastic handle of a screwdriver on the top of the bolt (where you put the breaker bar). I’ve done a lot of converter work, where it’s been so tight that neither freeman nor a pipe wrench could turn it. So I would take it home and heat it up with my torch, then bang on it till out.
Can a torque converter lock up an engine?
