How To Leave A Church Without Burning Bridges?

Writer John Campbell

Whenever you are at a church, it’s always difficult to leave. However, it’s best to leave a church without burning bridges. You don’t want to do anything to destroy the relationships and friendships that you’ve established over the years. As they say, it’s a small world, so you never know who you might come across later on in life.

You might go to a different church or even change jobs and run into some of the same people from the church you’re at right now. You never know how they might play a role in your life. In that case, it’s best to leave the church without burning any bridges.

If you have some kind of role in the church, then it would be best if you finish out your duties to the best of your abilities. Do whatever you can to help the ministry before you leave. If there’s work to be done, then you should definitely get the work done. Also, you can leave notes or instruction that can help whoever is going to replace you. Again, this is assuming that you have a position of some kind in the church.

Sometimes when people are leaving the church, they might have a bad taste in their mouth. They may not care to help or leave on good terms. Sadly, this does happen from time to time. However, this is not something that you want to do it at all. You should leave so that people can see you for who you really are. Show them your character and integrity. Your last impression at that church should be a good one. You want people to remember you in a good way not a bad way.

It would also be better for you to show thanks and appreciation to the staff at the church. Tell the pastor and leaders that you appreciate them and that you enjoyed the time that you spent with them throughout the years. This is the best way for you to leave a church without burning bridges.
