How to open bifold fireplace doors

Writer Ethan Hayes

A classic, effective, and space-saving approach to conceal a fireplace is with bifold glass doors. The separate panels fold on to each other when the doors are opened because each pair of doors is hinged in the center. The doors must be removed from time to time to clear soot from the glass panes or to get access to the fireplace. The doors should be fully open or fully closed at all times. When lighting a fire and when the fire is burning hot, glass doors should be completely open. As the fire goes out, close the glass doors to reduce the quantity of room air that enters the fireplace chimney.

Push the top-notch spring clip up in the case of bifold glass fireplace doors. Remove the pin from the door’s backside as well. Remember to store the door and screws in a secure location.

DOORS WITH BIFOLDING:

The bifold glass fireplace doors are simple to remove. All you have to keep in mind is that the fireplace should not be hot or lighted while you’re working on it. After you’ve double-checked that the fireplace isn’t on fire, you can get to work. One pair of bifold doors should be opened.

  1. Then press up on the top-spring notch’s clip. Then, from the bottom of the door, slide the top of the door outwards and remove the pin. Ascertain that the fireplace is not burning and has cooled fully.
  2. Push up on the spring clip that secures the top door pin by opening one set of bifold doors. Instead of a separate spring clip that must be pulled down, certain versions may feature a spring-loaded top pin.
  3. Drag the bottom pin from its pivot hole and remove the door by pulling the upside part outwards. Carry out the same steps with the other pair of bifold doors.
