Silky Terrier Dog Breed Playing AroundIf you are preparing for your first acupuncture appointment, you will want to take time before the procedure to learn about it. The more you know about what you can expect during your session, the less anxious and uncomfortable you will be. It is essential that you understand how acupuncture works if this is your first experience with it. You should have a general idea of where to find specific points on the body so that the practitioner can give proper treatment.
If this may not be your first visit, but instead your first time getting treated by a particular practitioner, being prepared will help make things run smoothly during the entire experience. Here are things to know.
To prepare yourself for an acupuncture session, there are several basic things you must do:
Make sure to eat healthy food. You should eat at least 2 hours or more before your treatment and drink plenty of water throughout the day to help detoxify your body and prepare it for the session.
If you are pregnant, diabetic, have a pacemaker, suffer from seizures or any other condition that means you cannot put metal inside your body, do not use acupuncture as a cure for those conditions. Also if you have heart disease, high blood pressure or thin bones, bypass this medical practice as well.
