how to remove bmw e46 business radio

The removal process is very simple and can be done by anyone. The only thing you need is a T-20 Torx screwdriver.
The E46 business cd headunit does have a security access code, so when you disconnect the battery it will ask for it…
To remove the E46 Business CD player follow these steps:
1. Turn the ignition on without starting the engine. The display should read “Enter special access code” or something similar – do not enter anything at this point.
2. Cycle the ignition off and on 10 times within 10 seconds, with the first turn of the key being more like a slow turn – do not remove your finger from the key during this step. The display should now read “code” followed by some numbers or letters – please note these down! do not enter anything at this point.
3. Cycle the ignition off and on a further 9 times, with the first turn of the key being more like a slow turn – do not remove your finger from the key during this step. The display should now read “code confirmed” or something similar – please note these down!
4. Now open and close the drivers door 10 times.
5. Turn the ignition off and on again, and this time enter the 4-digit access code that you noted down in step 2. The display should now read “radio off” – press and hold the eject button to remove the CD player.
6. If you have an aftermarket amplifier fitted, there is a good chance it will still work as the business CD headunit provides a switched 12v supply and switched earth. If you do not have an aftermarket amp fitted, or you would prefer not to use this method then simply connect a wire from the accessory minus terminal on the battery to the chassis of your car – your new radio should now power on when you turn the key to the on position.
