Before beginning the removal process, it is essential to examine any cleaning agent and detergents in a secluded area to make sure that the fabric won’t get damaged or get discolored.

The blobs leftover from the ointment on the fabric’s surface can be removed with an untidy knife or spoon. Do not rub on the spot where the stain is. Clean the stain using a white, clean towel. Be aware that, as with any kind of stain, the sooner a stain is dealt with and removed, the higher the likelihood of removal success.

For clothes that are specifically marked as dry clean solely, it’s advised to bring them to dry clean facilities immediately.

Methods to remove stains from ointment from clothing

Eliminate any solid remnants. If an ointment smudge is applied to the fabric, it’s recommended to use a sharp knife or the edges of credit cards to pull it off the fabric. 

Do not rub as it could cause the ointment to penetrate deeper into the fabric and make it harder to get rid of the stain. If you are unable to wash the item immediately and the stain is still there, apply a little sprinkle where the stain is with a little amount of talcum, cornstarch, or baby powder to soak up the oil.

The site should be treated using a stain remover or a laundry detergent that is heavy-duty. Treatment of the oily portion of the stain using the stain removal spray, or gel which is formulated with the lipase enzyme, which can break up the oil.

It is a crucial ingredient for stain removal on synthetic fabrics, like polyester, which can trap oily stains. Use the cleaner to rid yourself of the stain with your fingertips or the bristled soft brush.

If you do not have a stain remover on hand, use a strong-duty soap for laundry that is formulated with enzymes for lifting stain to eliminate the oil. Place the cleaner on the floor for at least 15 minutes, and then gently scrub it off with a soft bristle.

Then thoroughly rinse with hot water.

Clean the stain with the water that is the hottest as suggested on the label for garment care. Make sure to inspect the area of the stain prior to placing the item inside the dryer. Be aware that the extreme temperature of a dryer will let the stain set and render it unachievable to get rid of.

The ointments which are tinted will require further cleaning to remove any trace of dye.

Make a mixture of oxygen-based bleach with cool water. Submerge the clothing and allow the clothes to soak for a minimum of eight hours.

Inspect your stain to see if there is any remaining evidence of the dye.
