WHITE VINEGAR AND GRAPEFRUIT OILS

Ordinary white vinegar, which you probably have in your kitchen, is an excellent tool for cleaning these pet stains on hardwood floors because it is a natural cleaner and deodorant. Pour one cup of vinegar and a few drops of grapefruit oil into a pail of warm water to remove the aroma. Let the mixture sit overnight. Scrub the floor with this non-toxic cleaning solution, focusing on the most visible areas. The stink and stains should fade away as you scrub.

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE

Depending on the discoloration, you may need to soak it in hydrogen peroxide. First, scrub the patches with peroxide and let them dry. If the stains and stink remain, cover with a paper towel or a Soft Wipe soaked in peroxide. Allow each towel to sit on each blemished area for a few hours, checking every hour to see if the stain is fading. Keep in mind that once you’ve removed the stain, your floor color will most likely exhibit mild deterioration, necessitating some refinishing.

BAKING SODA

When determining how to remove pet stains, keep in mind that you can finish the vinegar or peroxide cleaning process by sponging up any excess moisture or residue and deodorizing with baking soda. The clutter, however, poses no threat to the structural integrity of your home with a little elbow grease. However, keep in mind that the staining and cleaning process may harm the wood, necessitating some sanding or touch-up work. Using dusting cloths and a brushless vacuum, clean and nourish the wood on a regular basis.
