How To Remove Toothpaste Stains
Andrew Davis
It’s likely that you’ve done it before. When cleaning your teeth, you become a little too enthusiastic, and little white or blue specks emerge on your clothes just as you’re about to walk out the door. (Perhaps that’s why Mother recommended washing your fingernails before wearing them!) Removing these tiny dots appears to be a straightforward task: With a moist towel, wipe them away. Freshwater, but at the other extreme, would not be enough.

Titanium dioxide, a whitening agent in toothpaste, is most likely to blame. It doesn’t help lighten your gums; it simply bleaches regular mouthwash. The solution, on the other hand, is straightforward and can be completed in a matter of minutes at home. If you don’t have time to clean the toothpaste-speckled shirt and instead choose to change clothes, the stains will be washed out. The problem will be solved by the surfactants and enzymes in the washing detergent. Keep washing as regularly, respecting the garment’s washing instructions.
Eliminate anything large blobs of toothbrush with such a potato peeler or fork from garments marked dry cleaning to only prevent the material from going deeper through into material. This same stain should never be pressed through into material.
If the toothpaste includes titanium dioxide, take the clothing to a competent dry cleaner and have the stain identified and pointed out. If indeed the mouthwash does not contain photocatalyst as well as the material somehow doesn’t moisture mark (solution marks dark silk scarves often), erase the discoloration that used a white sheet bathed in simple, lukewarm water.
To absorb wetness, lightly massage the patches with both the handkerchief, afterwards wipe with a dry white towel.
After putting the clothing inside the machine bag, remove each stain with both the supplied cleaning solution unless you’re using a domestic laundry service kit to cleanse the entire clothing.
