A Toyota key battery is a part of the ignition system that powers the electronic locks. When the battery dies, the car won’t open the doors. If you don’t have a spare key, you’ll need to get a new battery.

The Toyota key battery is located in the center console on top of the steering column. It’s behind the plastic cover with the fuse box inside. You can remove this cover by removing four screws from the bottom of the cover. Once the cover is off, you can see the battery. Remove the old battery and put the new one in its place. Reinstall the cover and tighten all four screws.

Why do you need to replace a Toyota key battery?

If you’ve had problems starting your vehicle recently, there are several reasons why your battery may need to be replaced. Your battery may simply need to be recharged. However, if your battery is severely damaged, it will no longer hold a charge. In either case, replacing a dead battery will fix the problem.

What kind of battery does a Toyota key fob take?

The Toyota key fobs use Ni-MH batteries. These batteries are rechargeable and last much longer than alkaline batteries. They also work well in cold weather because they don’t freeze up like regular batteries.

How long should I wait before replacing my Toyota key battery?

Most Toyota key batteries are designed to last between three and five years. If your battery isn’t working properly after three years, it’s time to replace it.
