How to reset Lexus is250 oil light?

Writer Caleb Butler

If you are like most drivers, you rely on your car’s dashboard indicators to tell you when something needs attention. Moreover, if you own a Lexus IS250, one of those things that may need attention is the oil light.
Fortunately, resetting the oil light is a relatively easy process. Here are the steps to follow:
1) Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition.
2) Locate the oil dipstick and remove it from the engine.
3) Wipe off any excess oil with a clean cloth or paper towel.
4) Reinsert the dipstick into the engine and make sure it’s fully seated.
5) Wait a few seconds and pull the dipstick out again.
6) Compare the oil level indicated on the dipstick to that listed in your owners’ manual.
7) Add oil, if necessary. Do not overfill your engine with oil and do not add any other type of fluid (e.g., power steering, brake, transmission). Doing so will result in a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminating on your dashboard.
8) If you need more than 1 liter of oil to reach the correct level, make sure it’s the same grade as was previously installed in your engine (check your owner’s manual for the recommended grade).
9) When you’re done adding or changing oil, reinstall and tighten the dipstick and then start the engine.
10) Keep an eye on your oil light. If it’s still illuminated, repeat these steps until it goes out and stays off. This indicates that you’ve reached the proper oil level and there are no leaks present in your system.
In addition, you should check your engine oil level on a regular basis and make sure to keep it topped up. Doing so will help ensure that your Lexus IS250 runs smoothly for years to come. If you follow these simple steps, you’ll be able to reset the oil light on your Lexus IS250 in no time. Moreover, by keeping your engine well lubricated, you’ll help protect its vital components from wear and tear.
