How To Root Samsung Galaxy Note 9

Writer Robert King

The OEM patch prevents users from rooting through stock recovery, therefore most people should use TWRP instead. If after seven days of use the OEM Unlock function is still inaccessible on your Galaxy Note 9, your device has been shipped with the OEM protection patch.

1. Go to Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Developer Options and enable them. 7 times touch on the Build Number.

2. Enable OEM Unlock in Settings > Developers Options.

3. Save the N9 S9 root.zip file to your SD card and then remove the SD card from your computer.

4. Installing TWRP on your computer is as easy as installing it and launching it.

5. Disconnect your Galaxy Note 9 from your computer and hold Vol Down + Bixby while doing so. This will put your Galaxy Note 9 in Download Mode when it is powered on for the first time.

6. When you launch Odin, make sure the “Auto Reboot” checkbox is not selected.

7. Then, under Odin, select the AP tab and select the TWRP.tar image. Start your computer by clicking the Start button on your keyboard.

8. Odin will now flash TWRP onto your Galaxy Note 9 if it has not already been done so in step 8. There’s no need to keep your phone plugged into your computer anymore.

9. Then press and hold Volume Up + Bixby + Power until the screen turns off, and then reboot into TWRP.

10. When TWRP asks for your permission to make changes, simply swipe right.

11. Go to Wipe > Format Data > Yes on the TWRP main menu. The Galaxy Note 9 will be completely wiped clean after you perform this operation.

12. Once the process is complete, select “Reboot > Recovery” to return your Galaxy Note 9 to TWRP mode.

13. Go to Install > SD Card > select the N9 root OEM issue.zip file that you copied earlier in the process. If you have an OEM patch-affected device, you need to select the “OEM Patch” option in addition to your preferred root method. If you’re unsure, go with your gut.

14. You should also allow OEM patched devices to use the kernel patch.

15. Choose Reboot to System after TWRP has successfully flashed the.zip file.
