How to turn off air suspension on bmw x5?

Writer Caleb Butler

Some people got rid of their air suspensions and went with springs + Bilstein Sport shocks.
Others have installed the BMW Performance Suspension which is a full coilover system.
There are also some people who have replaced the Air Suspension compressor, air lines, and dryer. This is a more expensive solution, but it may be what you need to do in order to get your system working properly again.
If you’ve tried all of the above and still have issues with your suspension, then there are a few other things that you can try. One option is to bleed the suspension system. This can be done by following these steps:
-Remove the black caps on top of the shocks
-Use a T-25 Torx bit to remove the two screws on the top of each shock
-Slowly release the pressure in the shocks by opening the valves (you will hear a hissing noise)
-Once all of the pressure is released, close the valves and re-install the screws
-Replace the black caps
Another option is to replace the Air Suspension control module. This can be done by following these steps:
-Remove the trim around the gear selector
-Remove the two screws at the top of the console
-Lift up on the console and unplug the three connectors from the Air Suspension control module
-Remove the four screws that hold in the control module
-Replace the control module with a new one and reattach everything in reverse order
If you’ve tried all of the above and you’re still not having any luck, then your last option is to buy a new Air Suspension compressor. This can be done by following these steps:
-Remove the engine cover
-Remove the three bolts that hold in the air suspension compressor
-Disconnect the electrical connector and hoses from the compressor
-Replace the compressor with a new one and reattach everything in reverse order
If you’ve tried all of this and are still having issues, your best bet is to take it to a mechanic. They will be able to diagnose the problem and tell you what needs to be done in order to fix it. Hopefully, one of these solutions will work for you, and your BMW X5 will be up and running again.
