How to Turn Off Your BMW 328i's Interior Lights
Gabriel Cooper
The 328i is a luxury vehicle by BMW. This model year was produced from 2008-2014. The interior of the vehicle includes dome lights, vanity mirror lights, glove box light, foot well lights and cargo area lighting. Depending on how you use your 328i, these interior lighting elements can be troublesome if they remain on when not needed or desired. If your car’s interior lights are constantly burning out or draining the battery, then follow this guide to learn how to shut them off manually.
On either side of the rear view mirror there are small round chrome buttons labeled “light” with an image of a sun beside it for daytime running lamps (DRL). Just push down on each button to turn off the DRL.
In the foot well of the driver, there is a small circular chrome knob that needs to be pulled out in order to disengage daytime running lamps (DRL). The switch is labeled with “off” and an image of a car going over a hill against a blue sky.
In the glove box, there is another small round knob found in its rear wall. Pull this knob outwards to disable automatic light control when you open or close your 328i’s trunk lid. This feature will remain disabled until you push the button back in again. In addition, if it is dark outside when you open your 328i’s trunk lid, then your illuminated entry lights will also shut off automatically.
On the instrument panel, a lighted rocker switch turns off all of the car’s exterior lights. This switch is labeled with an image of a headlight and “exterior lights.”
In the center console, there is a button found on the armrest that will turn off all of the car’s interior lights. The button is labeled with an image of two lamps and “interior lights.” When you press this button, all of the car’s interior lights will turn off, except for the ones in the rearview mirror. These will stay on so you can see when you are reversing.
