How To Unclog Toilet When Nothing Works
Ethan Hayes
Sometimes, a toilet clog that is stubborn may surprise you. If it happens to you, it’s important to be aware of the best methods to dissolve it. The methods listed below can remove your toilet from obstruction in only a few minutes. Others require extra elbow grease. In the end, you can rest confident that this list represents one of the “best of the top” for the solutions for clogged toilets.

A plunger, for example, is ideal for unclogging a toilet. If you need a heavier plunger, get one with a flange or a heavy-duty grip. Wear rubber gloves before using the plunger to avoid splashing. Insert the plunger’s rubber end into the toilet bowl while holding the handle. Then slowly lower it into the bowl. Insert it and pull it up quickly to create a vacuum. This will remove the clog and flush the water and waste down the toilet drain. If this doesn’t work, try another.
Use A Mixture Of Vinegar And Baking Soda
If a plunger doesn’t work, try a solution of white vinegar and baking soda. These items are probably in your pantry, but if not, they are easily obtained. Begin by mixing 2 or 3 cups of warm water with 1/2 cup baking soda. Once the baking soda has dissolved completely, pour it into the toilet bowl. Wait 5-10 minutes, then pour 2 cups of vinegar into the toilet. The two should react chemically to dissolve the clog. If not, think of another.
Use Boiling Water or Washing Detergent
If the plunger fails, try soap and water. Boil one or two gallons of water and let it cool before using. While you wait, fill the toilet bowl with 1/4 cup dish soap. Then slowly fill the toilet bowl with warm water and flush it after a few minutes. This should help loosen the clog and make it easier to remove.
Use Plumbing Snake
If you don’t have a plumbing snake (also known as a “toilet snake”), you should get one. With this tool’s flexibility, you can easily reach the drain’s bottom. The snake’s rubber coating protects your porcelain from scratches and damage. Wear gloves to avoid waste on your hands. Place the snake tool’s bottom end inside the toilet and gently push down until you feel resistance. Next, push and turn the snake’s handle clockwise to manually push the toilet obstruction down the drain. Then flush the toilet to ensure it’s clean. If it still doesn’t flow as much as it should, there may be debris in the drain. If this doesn’t work after two tries, try another.
