How To Wire 6 Speakers To A 4 Channel Amp

Writer Emily Cortez

In this article, we will discuss how you can pair 4 Channel AMP with 6 speakers. The process of pairing is simple but not advisable to perform. The more load (speakers) you put on AMP, the hotter it becomes, and it also reduces the life of the AMP.

If you take my advice, pairing 4 Channel AMP with 4 Speakers is a more efficient decision than pairing 4 Channel AMP with 6 speakers.

The pairing of the Devices

The devices can be connected by two methods (1) Series Connection (2) Parallel Connection.

Series Connection

In this method, one of the speakers can be a connection point for other speakers. The wiring with speakers can be performed in a linear pattern. In a series method, two speakers can be powered for a single channel.

  • The process is very simple to Connect the first two speakers with the first channel.
  • To pair the channel with speakers, you can connect (– ve) wire of the first speakers into the (- ve) terminal of the first channel.
  • To pair the wire of speakers together, you have to connect the (+ ve) wire of the first speakers to the (- ve) wire of 2nd speakers.
  • To pair the terminal of speakers, you have to connect (+ ve) terminal of the 2nd Speaker with (+ve) terminal of 1st Speaker.
  • Follow the same procedure for third and fourth speakers.
  • The remaining two speakers, 5th and 6th, can be connected to individual channels (3,4)

Pros of the process

Cost-saving, you don’t need to buy additional equipment

The load of the speakers is split in an effective manner

Cons

You have to sacrifice the quality of the sound

Parallel Connection

The second method is to connect wire using parallel connections.

  • Connect the negative (-ve) wire of the 1st Speaker to the negative (-ve) terminal of the 1st channel on the amplifier
  • Connect the negative (-ve) wires of the 1st t and 2nd speakers- get them tangled
  • Connect the positive (+ve) wire of the 1st Speaker to the positive (+ve) terminal of the 1st channel
  • Connect the positive (+ve) wire of the 2nd Speaker to the positive (+) terminal or wire of the 1st Speaker
  • The 5th and 6th speakers are then connected to the last 2 channels individually

Advantages

Good sound quality
