Is it safe to sleep in a freshly painted room?

Is it safe to sleep in a freshly painted room? The answer to this depends on the health of someone but it is advisable to sleep in a brand new paint room for about four days or if you are very sensitive to the smell of the paint maybe two weeks

Silky Terrier Dog Breed Playing AroundOne thing I can say is when you decide to sleep in your freshly painted room use an old blanket that will not be disturbed by any change. If you don’t have one then yes it’s okay to use a sheet. Some paints release fumes that can cause irritation to your eyes and respiratory tract, or headaches and nausea for some people.
Paint manufacturers make low-VOC (volatile organic compound) paints that emit fewer fumes. Keep windows open when painting indoors on warm days, and use an exhaust fan if one is available. If you are sensitive to chemicals then it’s best not to stay in that room for a long time at least two weeks or more.
There is no real way to tell how many VOCs are in the air inside a room just painted with water-based paint. Even if you could measure the amount of VOCs in indoor air, that does not mean that there are any health effects resulting from this exposure. The concentrations measured will be orders of magnitude below those known to have short-term health effects.
When it comes to long-term health effects from low levels of VOCs, the scientific evidence is not conclusive. Some studies have shown a link between indoor air VOCs and an increased risk for cancer or other adverse health effects; however, there are no epidemiologic studies that show that people exposed to low levels of VOCs in their homes have lower overall health than people who are not exposed.
In addition to the risk of cancer, long-term exposure to some VOCs has been linked with increased susceptibility to respiratory and eye irritation, headaches, nausea, and difficulty in concentrating. For the most part, these health effects are only seen in people who work with VOCs on a regular basis.
In conclusion, I recommend you keep your windows open and try to let fresh air into the room if it is safe to do so. You will actually save money by doing both of those things rather than running an air conditioner.
