Romabio Limewash Stone Fireplace? - Kylon Powell

Writer Sarah Silva

Can you limewash a stone fireplace?

“What is limewashing?” you may wonder. Limewashing refers to a paint process where you mix water with lime to create a thin mixture that you paint over your brick or stone to tone down the look of dark, outdated brick or stone. A stone or brick fireplace can both be limewashed.

Can you use limewash on stone?

Limewash can be used both indoors and outdoors, making it a versatile product. Unlike most house paints that sit atop surfaces, limewash sinks in, so it’s best applied to porous surfaces, such as plaster, stone, and brick.

How long does Romabio limewash last?

Its concentrated form has an extended shelf life (roughly 5-10 years). If you mix it with water, the shelf life will be reduced because of the impurities in the water.

Should I whitewash or limewash?

It’s possible to get more color options with white washing with paint rather than limewashing. Although it can be used on previously painted surfaces, it is a permanent finish.
