Does stove have to be flush with counter?

An oven that is properly installed should be level with the cabinetry. When the oven door is closed, the door and handle should protrude no more than 2″ from the cabinetry.

How far should stove be from countertop?

The distance between your stove and the cabinets on either side of it is not specified by building codes. This distance should be between 24″ and 30″, depending on your stove and the cabinet above.
