What Baby Lice Look Like?
Baby lice is an ectoparasite whose only hosts are humans. They look like dandruff, but they don’t fall off your hair easily. Louse lay their eggs (also known as nits) on hair, closer to the scalp. They are very small in size, only 0.3-0.8 millimeters. When nits are of yellow or brown color, it means the eggs have not hatched yet. But when they appear as white or clear, it represents that the louse has hatched, and only the egg remained with a slightly crumpled appearance.
Baby lice are oval-shaped, located about 1.5mm from the scalp on the hair follicle, where the temperature is perfect for keeping the eggs warm until they hatch. Nits took about 6-9 days to hatch, growing into a nymph. The eggs remain attached to the hairs.
Baby lice are tiny parasites that remain attached to the hairs due to the secretion of female louse called glue. That glue makes them stick to the hair shaft. They are just small eggs that you cannot feel the sensation of their movement unless they have hatched. Baby lice can sometimes also appear as the color of a person’s hair.
