Also, canaries are said to be native to the canary islands, which makes sense when you consider their names. Naturally, canaries will eat mainly seeds, fruits, and insects. Fruits and Vegetables

Canaries eat bananas, watermelon, tomatoes, strawberries, apples, broccoli, almonds, arugula, blueberries, budgie seed, cherries, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, corn, dandelions, dried fruit, and flaxseed. Also, canaries eat grapes, honey, kiwi, lettuce, pears, peas, spinach, dill, raw carrots, zucchini, melon, nuts, oranges, mint leaves, dandelion flowers, and dandelion leaves.

Canaries eat vegetables, plants, courgette, yogurt eggs,, egg yolk, wild bid food, wheat, watercress, walnuts, wild bird seed, tangerines, sweet corn, sweet potato, seasame seeds, spinach leaves, radish leaves, raspberries, and pineapple. Also, canaries can eat millet, limes, mango, peanuts, oatmeal, parsley, parakeet food, olives, rice, raisins, figs, grit, grass, lychees, lentils, sunflower hearts, herbs, hay, niger seed, and nasturtiums. Additionally, canaries will eat cheese, hard boiled eggs, finch food, oats, lavender, red peppers, jalapenos, peppers, sunflower seeds, toast, trill, rosemary, cuttlefish, and budgies.

Insects and Animals

Even though canaries have a vegetation diet, they are omnivorous because they can eat meat and insects. Canaries can eat mealworms, bugs, meat, ants, fish, dried mealworms, tuna, flies, and worms.

Avocado is not good for canaries to eat because it’s quite toxic and harmful to them. Canaries can eat at night, but they will eat more during the day. It’s possible for canaries to eat their own eggs, especially when food sources are limited. Canaries will eat bread, but it’s not the ideal food for them to eat. In the wild, canaries will mainly eat seeds, fruits, and some insects. If canaries are bored, they will sometimes eat paper or play with it. Canaries will eat their own feathers as a way to try and groom or take care of themselves.
