Clover mites are oval-shaped arachnids that are commonly found in cool regions as they prefer cooler weather. They are 0.75-0.85mm in length and possess long legs, which sometimes are mistakenly considered antennae. In length, the mature clover mites hardly exceed 1/4 mm.
Due to temperature restrictions, they mostly become active as the temperature drops. This characteristic makes them unique from many other pests.
Each of their females lay about 70 eggs. The population is mainly comprised of females as they grow through the unfertilized eggs. Their life span is short as adult clover mites only live for a maximum of “two weeks”.

Plants
Clover mites rely on plants as they get their nutrition from them. They are suckers and get their food by sucking the grasses and other plants that are usually present in lawns. The wood of trees like cedar and pine is beneficial for them as they lay legs on their barks.
Apart from it, clover mites eat tomatoes, cucumbers, and vegetables. Also, clover mites will eat plants, flowersa, grass, Clover, dandelion, basil, houseplants, strawberry, and ornamental flowers.

Certain plants are repellent to clover mites. Clover mites don’t eat rose bushes, wood, paper, rose, marigold, petunia, and geranium, etc. The large indoor plants also do not get attacked by clover mites.
Animals
Clover mites do not dine on blood as they are not flesh-eaters. They prey on molds etc to get food but are not harmful to animals. Clover mites do not eat spider mites and aphids but sometimes in critical situations, they prey on some other insects.
