Male and female cods are similar in size. A fresh domestic cod costs 10 dollars per pound. It is considered one of the most delicious fish and is eaten all over the world. One special thing about a cod fish is that it is high in protein and low in fats which make it an excellent source of protein. Cod fish are mostly found in the Atlantic Ocean, North Carolina around Greenland Sea coasts, the Arctic Ocean, and the Northern Sea. They prefer saltwater habitats, brackish water with high salt content mixed with freshwater. The average lifespan of a cod fish before it gets captured and eaten can live up to more than 20 years. They spawn near the ocean floor from winter to early spring.
