Dragon fish feed on algae, plankton, marine invertebrates, insects, and insect larvae that reside in the sand in the natural environment. Dragon fish is omnivorous and thrives in captivity on a high-protein diet. Feed Dragon fish eat algae wafers, live brine shrimp, Mysis shrimp, and daphnia. These are all fine for them to feed on. The dragonfish is a scavenger first and foremost. It pulls gravel from the substrate, filters it to remove edible material, and then spits the gravel out before eating the food particles.
