Goldfish don’t only get their nutrients from meat and insects; it also is dependent on plants. Including other plant diets, goldfish eat betta food, tropical fish food, betta fish food, bread crumbs, riccia, and string algae. As for the fruits and vegetables, goldfish eat bananas, carrots, watermelon, cucumber, kale, spinach, zucchini, lettuce, and vegetables. Together with these, goldfish eat corn, tropical flakes, water hyacinth, water lettuce, lily pads, leaves, peas, and pond algae. And of course, surprisingly, goldfish eat their own poop, plants, and plant roots as well.
