Komodo Dragons are carnivorous, which means they only eat meat. Komodo dragons can eat humans, babies, bugs, their babies, their own babies, and each other.

However, their eating habits are different when they are in the wild and when they are in captivity. Komodo Dragons are strong enough to bring down horses and water buffaloes.

Moreover, komodo dragons also eat insects, lizards, rats, birds, goats, pigs, deer, fawn, and even smaller Komodo dragons. Komodo dragons eat bones of their prey too. Other animals that Komodo dragons can eat include cats, deer, dogs, deer fetuses, eggs, frogs, fish.

Besides, komodo dragons can also eat goats, live chickens, monkeys, snakes, turtles, their eggs, and buffaloes. And, komodo dragons can also eat people and each other Komodo dragons, too. These deadly predators can prey on anything that might otherwise attract them for their next diet.

Zoo

The diet of Komodo Dragons changes slightly in zoos since they are trained according to specific zoo guidelines.

Komodo dragons in zoos eat rabbits, insects, rats, mice, and a specially prepared carnivorous diet rich with nutrients.

What Komodo Dragons Do Not Eat?

Komodo Dragons do not eat several things due to specific reasons. The first and the most important reason to exclude certain foods is that Komodo Dragons are carnivorous. It means Komodo dragons don’t eat all fruit, vegetables, plants in general. Unsurprisingly, komodo dragons don’t eat chocolate.

Being carnivorous, Komodo Dragons don’t plants and that is quite obvious. Komodo dragons don’t eat near any fruit, plants, dragon fruit, and vegetables. They also do not eat crocodiles, chocolate, dragon fruit, elephants, fruit, lions, plants, sharks, and tigers, and polar bears.

Komodo Dragons are indeed carnivorous, it does not mean they will eat all animals, nor are they capable of doing so. Therefore, there are many exceptions to the list of animals they eat. The animals that Komodo Dragons do not eat include polar bears, crocodiles, elephants, lions, and sharks. The reason for it is obvious – these animals aren’t only larger but are also stronger than Komodo Dragons too. Therefore, Komodo Dragons can’t attack and consume them. The opposite might happen if Komodo Dragons pursued this goal.
