Mud daubers are the wasps that build their nests from mud. They build their mud houses on different sites such as exterior walls, inside garages, sheds, barns, houses, and trees. mud daubers can be found throughout North America and in the Asian region. Mud daubers are mostly present on areas like porch ceilings and under eaves.

Some species of mud daubers eat black widow spiders. Mud daubers also stock caterpillars in their nests. Mud daubers can eat flies, caterpillars, and ants but their diet mainly consists of spiders.

Mud daubers either female or male also live on nectar which they extract from flowers, they don’t destroy the flowers. Mud daubers are great pollinators because they extract pollen from native plants and spread them. Mud daubers also extract nectar from some fruits like berries, grapes, and peaches. In the backyards of houses, they also drink water.

Mud daubers don’t eat wood or any other surface or metal. They use them only for making their nests. Mud daubers don’t eat worms, termites, and different wasps because some wasps and birds eat them as their food. Mud daubers don’t eat caterpillars and brown recluse spiders. They only prey on black widow spiders. Mud daubers don’t like peppermint and remain away from peppermint. They don’t like to extract nectar from peppermint plants.
