When it acquires more meat than it can consume in a single sitting, it engages in “surplus killing,” storing the excess flesh for later use. Stoats are fearsome predators who can run at speeds of up to 20 miles per hour when hunting for their prey.

It has been discovered that in the majority of areas where weasels and stoats coexist, the weasel prefers smaller prey and the stoat prefers somewhat larger prey. Male stoats are typically larger in size than female stoats, and they prey on larger prey.

Fruits and Vegetables

Stoats only consume fruits when the food is in scarcity. Stoats also eat nuts. They don’t feed on vegetables. They prey mostly on small mammals, particularly rabbits and water voles, which are numerous in the areas where they can be found in large numbers.
