Water moccasins are also opportunistic as well; they like to prey on other animals and eat them when there’s an opportunity to do exactly that. Water moccasins love to eat aquatic and terrestrial prey. As a matter of fact, water moccasins eat fish, ducks, turtles, frogs, bass, mice, cicadas, meat, and rats. Additionally, water moccasins eat snakes, birds, baby alligators, and more. Basically, water moccasins will eat whatever they are able to fit in their mouth. They have no problem preying on other animals. Also, water moccasins do eat eggs, chicken eggs, and eggs from other animals and amphibians.

If they are threatened, water moccasins will open their wide mouths and attack their predators as well as potentially eat them. Interestingly, water moccasins will prey on animals that are on land or in water. It doesn’t matter to them, they will eat whatever they can and whenever as well.

How Water Moccasins Eat Their Prey

You should know that water moccasins are venomous snakes; they can easily kill their prey with a single bite that is venomous and deadly. Also, water moccasins like to wrap their bodies around their prey until they stop moving. Also, water moccasins can swallow their prey whole, which is one of the reasons why they are such a threat to other animals and amphibians.

Conclusions

Humans don’t have to worry about water moccasins because they don’t go looking for humans to attack at all. However, they are dangerous to other animals and insects. Water moccasins mainly eat meat, insects, small mammals, and amphibians.
