DTC on BMW 3 series is a regulation system that controls stability and traction, allowing for sports-style driving, handling, and performance.

DTC on BMW 3 series has four stages: DTC1, DTC2, DTC3, and DTC4. Each stage enables greater control over stability and traction by increasing brake pressure under various driving conditions. The more the system is activated, the less likely it is to activate again during the same event or incident.

DTC on BMW 3 series is activated when the DSC system detects wheel slip. It will break an individual wheel to regain traction, allowing you to keep control of the car in slippery conditions. The more wheel slip that occurs during braking, the higher the chance that DTC goes into action and assists with steering and/or throttle inputs in order to correct the car’s path and provide stability.

You can usually tell when DTC is active because the car will jerk or pull in a particular direction as it attempts to right itself. If you find that your car is regularly activating DTC, you may need to have your suspension or alignment checked out by a professional.

Should DTC be on or off?

That’s ultimately up to the driver. Some people prefer to have it on all the time for an extra margin of safety, while others only turn it on when they know they’re going to be driving in slippery conditions. It’s really up to you and your comfort level. Just be sure to read your owner’s manual so you know how to properly turn the system on or off.
To enable DTC, lightly press the brake pedal with your left foot and pull up on the parking brake handle with your right hand. Then release both pedals at the same time.

To disable DTC, slightly press down on the brake pedal while pulling up on the parking brake handle until you feel the brake pedal depressurize. Then release both pedals at the same time.
