Is there flooring you can put over carpet?

Laminate and vinyl flooring can be installed over carpet, but only on low-pile carpets. Use plywood as an underlayment and, more importantly, use the thinnest sheets possible when installing flooring on top of a high-pile carpet.

Can you lay vinyl plank over carpet?

Due to carpet underlay thicknesses of up to 10 millimeters, installing vinyl on top of it is not recommended. The vinyl floor will become unstable as a result of the use of such a thick underlayment.

Can I put wood flooring over carpet?

As long as the carpet is fairly flat, you should have no problem installing wood flooring over it. The foam padding of the carpet will cause your hardwood floor to spring or bounce, resulting in an uneven surface to walk on.

Can you put peel and stick flooring over carpet?

If you’re unable to remove your carpet for whatever reason, you can lay your vinyl planks on top of it. Vinyl planks can be laid directly on top of carpet or a wooden board can be placed over the carpet first before the planks are laid, depending on the type of carpet you currently have on your bed.
