What to Wear to Acupuncture?

Writer David Wilson

When you’re going to get Acupuncture, it’s essential to wear clothes conducive to this kind of healing. It is not just about being comfortable, but it is also about your safety because loose-fitting or tight-fitting clothing can affect the flow of energy through your body. If you are wondering what to wear to an acupuncturist, read on for more information.

Clothing: What should I Wear To Acupuncture?

Loose-fitting blouses and skirts are good choices for women who do acupuncture sessions in their homes. Loose stuff allows access to acupuncture points on your body, particularly at the back, where specialized needles called Tsubos are placed.

Clothing needs to be easily accessible at the back for men because their backs also have acupuncture points that need to be inserted.

The same goes for children. When you do acupuncture with them, make sure that they are wearing clothing not too tight on the torso area. Children with autism or hyperactivity, for example, need to be able to move freely without being restricted by layers of clothing.

Getting a unique shirt made especially for acupuncture sessions can help them avoid resistance and tantrums when you’re doing this form of alternative healing on them.

Make sure that whatever clothing you wear for Acupuncture sessions is comfortable enough to allow your body free movement. The better movement will allow better flow of energy in your system which will aid in relieving pain and illness faster.

Just remind yourself not to dress up too nicely when doing acupuncture because you don’t want to get blood or other body fluids on your clothes. And have a dressing gown handy if you need to slip out of your clothes during the session.

That way, you will not have to go searching around for one when it is needed.

What Not To Wear When Doing Acupuncture?

The same rules apply in choosing what not to wear in doing Acupuncture. Don’t wear clothing with metal buttons or attachments such as zippers or snaps at the back area where Tsubos are situated and inserted into specific points for healing purposes.

Also, avoid wearing outfits with metallic detailing like sequins and studs unless these can be easily removed, such as with Velcro fasteners.
