Writer Caleb Butler

In some instances patients may be able to wear glasses that are light as little as 1 to two weeks following rhinoplasty however, other women and men might need to wait up to 4 – six weeks before returning to wearing glasses.

If you had surgery performed at the point of the nose, where glasses are placed, you should probably wait approximately 6 weeks before putting the sunglasses or reading glasses over the bridge area that is your nostril. It is not a good idea for the bone structures of the nose to get controlled or pushed by your glasses. When the healing process is completed it is possible to wear whatever glasses you prefer. They could be light or heavy until you’re up close to three months.

A patient who is informed is essential to effective nose surgery. A well-informed doctor is as well. If you visit your surgeon, ensure to

  • Inform the facial surgeon you wear glasses.

He eased her anxiety by providing the precious (information) Nuggets of Information:

  • It is possible to wear glasses and sunglasses with your nasal splint in the first week following your recovery.
  • When the splint is taken off and the splint is removed, you should refrain from wearing eyeglasses for the next six weeks following surgery. This is to prevent permanent damage following nose surgery.

Once the surgeon has removed the cast after a week of surgery, you’ll be able to wear glasses right away, so long as they don’t cause soreness or pain.

Glasses are worn for one week following the nose surgery prior to when the splint can be removed. Its hard surface could keep any changes from occurring in the shape of the nose.

The removal of the splint patients should not wear sunglasses or glasses, especially frames made of plastic (which will rest completely over the nasal bridge) for the first six weeks. Since the nose is soft and supple, it is possible that the force of glasses could put pressure on the nasal bones that are healing. Therefore, it could alter the nose’s shape.
