Where do house rabbits sleep?

Writer Sarah Silva

House rabbits are known for being very active creatures and they love to explore their surroundings. While they may seem like they are always on the go, rabbits do need some downtime and will usually sleep for around 12 hours a day.

The place where a house rabbit sleeps depends on the individual rabbit as well as the layout of their home. Some bunnies prefer to sleep in a specific spot in their cage or hutch, while others will choose a different place each night.

Some common places that rabbits sleep include: inside their cages, underneath furniture, in a cardboard box, or a pet bed. If your bunny is allowed to roam free in your home, they may also choose to sleep in a quiet corner or under a bed.

It’s important to provide your rabbit with a comfortable place to sleep. A soft pet bed or a few old towels will do the trick. You can also put some hay in their sleeping spot to help keep them warm and cozy.
If your house rabbit is used to sleeping in a particular place, it may be hard to convince them to sleep elsewhere. However, you can try placing their bed in a different location within the cage or hutch every few days until they get used to it.

You can also try moving their sleeping spot to a different part of your home. If the bunny seems very resistant to this, you may want to let them sleep in their usual spot for a while and slowly introduce other locations. This way they will get used to the change in routine at their own pace. Rabbits are creatures of habit and they will usually follow the same routine each day. This includes taking naps at specific times and in specific places. By understanding your bunny’s habits, you can create an environment that is both comfortable and safe for them to sleep in.
