Where is the battery in a 2008 bmw 528i?
Rachel Davis
The battery in a 2008 BMW 528i is located in the trunk. It is in a black plastic box that is about 17 inches wide, 10 inches high, and 6 inches deep. The battery is secured to the box with two metal straps. There is also a connector for the positive terminal on top of the box. The negative terminal is on the bottom. The battery can be easily replaced by removing four screws from the cover of the box.

Some common causes are leaving the headlights on, using the car’s power windows or door locks while the engine is off, and having a low-voltage electrical system. If the battery dies, it will need to be replaced. A new battery costs about $200.
In addition to the above, there are some additional causes for this condition.
1- Electrical switches (eg: door lock) that depend on the battery to maintain their settings. If you leave these switched on when the car is turned off or if they are not used for a long time, the battery will drain and eventually die.
2- The voltage regulator can fail, especially during high electrical demand conditions such as cold weather starting or hard acceleration, which causes overcharging of the battery even with the engine running at normal speeds. One sign of this failure is an illuminated instrument cluster warning light. Another sign is a sudden loss of power while driving even though the fuel level is ok and all accessories are working fine. When this occurs, turn off all nonessential electrical equipment (heater or air conditioning, lights, etc) and drive at normal speed to the nearest workshop.
3- Loose, corroded, or damaged battery cables can also cause loss of power. Make sure that all four cable connections are clean, secure, and tight plus the ground wire is in good condition. If you don’t have it already then get hold of a battery load tester with instructions on how to use it properly.
4- A failing electrical system can also be another cause for this condition especially when lights dim at low RPMs in conjunction with other electronics (radio, wipers). The root problem could be worn brushes in old alternators which need replacing by an authorized BMW dealer or qualified specialist mechanic who has the tools required.
