Stressed

When a hermit crab is stressed, it could start chirping. The louder the chirps are is usually a sign of how agitated or even stressed your hermit carb is. In general, stress will definitely cause your hermit crab to chirp more than usual.

Frightened

If your hermit crab is frightened or scared, then it could start making noises, which includes chirping. This can happen as well if your hermit crab is in a new home or somewhere that it’s not used to. New surroundings can definitely cause hermit crabs to chirp.

Tank Temperature

You should ensure that the tank that your hermit crab is in is the right temperature. It shouldn’t be too hot or too cold. If the temperature isn’t right, that could lead to the chirping as well as other noises

Multiple Hermit Crabs in A Tank

If you have more than one hermit crab in a tank, that could be one of the reasons why one of them might chirping. Sometimes hermit crabs will bully each other, which leads to them being stressed out. As a result of this, they will chirp and keep chirping.

Moving Them

Sometimes hermit crabs don’t like to be moved or bothered. If they are, they could get annoyed and start chirping. Try not to move or disturb them too much.

Your Hermit Crab’s Chirping isn’t A Cause For Concern

If your hermit is chirping, it doesn’t mean that something is necessarily wrong. You don’t have to worry about the chirping. Even though the chirping can be related to stress, it could also be normal as well. If you changed your hermit crab’s tank, that can cause it to start chirping as well, which is something that you will need to take into consideration.

Conclusions

Hermit crabs chirp when they are stressed, agitated, frightened, or even in a new home. It all depends on the situation that they are in. Despite that, it doesn’t necessarily mean that something is wrong either or that you should worry. As long as you feed and take care of your hermit carb it will be good.
