Prevent dryness and itching by moisturizing your scalp before getting your weave sewed in. Before your appointment, apply a moisturizing product like oil to your scalp. Make sure you don’t overdo it with the oil because it can irritate your scalp even more.

Inflammation of the hair follicles can occur if the braiding or weaving process is carried out too tightly. Because of the lack of moisture, the scalp becomes extremely dry and starts to itch like crazy if hair is trapped under a net or mass of hair for days on end.
Why are my sew in extensions so itchy?
Small cuts or abrasions from your extensions can cause itchy hair extensions, which can lead to an infection. If your extensions are putting too much pressure on your scalp, you’re not using the right shampoo, or the extensions are rubbing against your scalp, you may experience this.
Why is my scalp so itchy with extensions?
In the first few days of wearing new hair extensions, it is normal to experience some itching on the scalp. The roots of the hair are initially irritated by the added weight, but after some time, they become accustomed to it.
How long do hair extensions itch?
Don’t be alarmed if you experience this for the second or third time in a row; it will pass. Use a dry-scalp shampoo while you wait for the itch to go away.
Should my hair extensions be itchy?
Itching in hair extensions is common during the first few weeks; however, if the itching lasts longer than two weeks, or your hair extensions are itchy or uncomfortable in any way, we strongly recommend that you consult a professional.

How long should a sew in last?
Is a sew-in a long-term solution? We recommend that you come to the salon every two weeks for a shampoo and every four to six weeks after the sew-in for tightening. Leaving your weave in too long can lead to mattifying, tangling, and dreading (which results in hair loss).

It’s also possible to apply a natural oil to your scalp, but use it sparingly because you don’t want it to loosen your weave and shorten its lifespan. Tea tree oil can also be applied to the itchy areas of your scalp.
Can you be allergic to weave hair?
No. Animal hair, on the other hand, will not cause an allergic reaction in anyone. This is due to the fact that the protein keratin makes up nearly the entire chemical structure of all mammal hair. Keratin, which is found in our skin and hair, does not cause an allergic reaction because our immune systems are constantly exposed.
How often should I wash my extensions?
For best results, we recommend washing your hair extensions every 15-20 wears or whenever you notice a buildup of product. Your hair extensions will last longer if you don’t wash them as often. Hair extensions should be cleaned the same way you would your own hair, starting with a shampoo, then conditioner, and finishing with a hydrating mask.
