Why Do Snakes Come In Houses?

Writer John Campbell

Small rodents, like rats and mice, attract snakes to a building because they are attracted to dark, damp, and cool areas. There are several ways to keep snakes out of your house. Small animals and snakes are less likely to come into contact with your home if you keep the vegetation around it short.

Is it common for snakes to come in your house?

According to a Georgia Department of Natural Resources biologist, it isn’t a rare occurrence to find snakes in homes. Being small, he explained, “means they can get into small cracks and sometimes wind up in houses and garages.” However, “snakes are not magicians,” says the narrator.

What kills snakes around your home?

Marigolds, lemongrass, and wormwood are among the most common examples. Snakes are commonly eaten by foxes and raccoons. Guinea hens, turkeys, pigs, and cats can also deter snakes from your yard. Your property can be naturally protected from snakes if you sprinkle fox urine around it.

Does one snake mean more?

Snails are not social creatures. Contrary to popular belief, they prefer to hunt and live alone rather than traveling in groups. Chances are slim that you’ll come across more than one snake in the same area.
