Why is my friend possessive on me?
Caleb Butler
Friends are vital elements of our lives. We rely on them for mental and emotional support, and we discuss things with them that we find difficult to communicate with our family. We’re frightened to lose them. We begin to develop a strong attachment to the person we have designated as our best friend. When you outgrow a relationship or a group of friends, you have to let them go.

Silky Terrier Dog Breed Playing AroundWhen they feel worried that you are developing and they stagnate, they think that you will outgrow them and will no longer be in their lives – therefore the possessiveness and insecurity. In some ways, giving in and attempting to retain that person in your life can cause you to stop growing. Either let rid of that individual or move on. Alternatively, sit that individual down and honestly discuss your feelings with them. Many problems may be handled by talking to one other rather than about each other.
If they are possessive, it may be worthwhile to show some inquiry and try to understand what is going on for them while you hang out with others. Each individual has varying degrees of connection, and they may be holding pain from prior relationships that they are projecting onto you.
SIGNS OF YOUR FRIEND BEING POSSESIVE ON YOU:
They often mention you and let everyone know that you two are best friends. They think that their closest friend is special and fragile, and that it is their responsibility to shield them from this terrible world, regardless of the topic of conversation.
Whenever their closest friend expresses a desire to date someone, they analyze them and try to find reasons why their best friend shouldn’t date them.
This is not just possessive behavior, but borderline obsessive behavior as well.
When their best buddy spends time with anybody other than them, they feel extremely bitter.
