Will Walnuts Get Rid Of Spiders?
Rachel Davis
Spiders are the unwanted creatures in homes. They are abundant in summer. They are also present in homes in winter and many people use different ways to kill them or to keep them away from homes. People always prefer natural methods to kill spiders because these methods don’t spread any chemicals in the home and don’t harm pets and children. Some people believe that nuts can keep spiders away like walnuts, but the question is whether placing walnuts in homes will actually kill spiders or not. Let’s have a look.
Walnut shells contain a chemical toxic to spiders, so they will keep spiders away. Some studies state that this is not applicable to all spider species. Some species of spiders also live on walnut trees which means that they don’t have any problem with walnut toxins.
You can place walnut shells or conkers which are non-edible can help to kill spiders or at least helps to keep them away from home.
Put whole walnuts in their shells in corners, on windowsills, or wherever you see spiders. Some people also believe that chestnuts also help to keep spiders away from the homes and backyards, and they contain toxic chemicals which are stronger than walnut toxins. You can also use some other natural methods to kill spiders, like the use of essential oils. Spiders hate the citric smell, peppermint oil, tea tree oil, and many other essential oils. Just mix these oils with vinegar and spray on spiders and their webs as it will help to get rid of them.
Well, there is not a proper study that can claim that spiders can be killed by walnuts because some studies show that spiders die when they touch the killing material, but this shows that spiders can die by the airborne toxins of walnuts. This is applicable to a few spider species, but not all species.
